a console getting more expensive this late is comedy

usually old hardware gets cheaper. xbox looked at that tradition and went the other direction. the new august pricing makes the same consoles noticeably more expensive this deep into the generation. i understand the explanation about memory and storage costs. still feels completely backwards when you are the person actually buying one. and the timing is rough. gta 6 is only a few months away, so there are definitely people who waited specifically to buy a console for the big fall games. series s is still the cheaper way into a lot of those games, but the value argument is getting harder every time the sticker moves up. console pricing has entered pc hardware logic. same object, new year, somehow more expensive.
