steam frame is $1059 and valve somehow made vr feel like pc hardware again
valve's standalone headset finally has a price: $1,059 for 256gb and $1,299 for 1tb. the kit includes the controllers, wireless pc adapter and half-life: alyx, but the power supply is separate. steamOS plus standalone games plus wireless pc vr is exactly the kind of nerd box i want. the part where the entry price has four digits is exactly the kind of pc hardware problem i did not want.
the $1059 still hurts but valve open-sourcing lepton is the first steam frame update that actually makes me more interested. android-only vr games getting a path onto linux without every studio rebuilding the whole thing is way more useful than another spec sheet
