synduality is shutting down the servers and somehow not deleting the game

bandai namco is ending synduality echo of ada's online service in may 2027 or later, which normally means the usual funeral for a live-service game. instead they are making an offline pve version for people who already own it. the update is planned to be free, disc owners are included, and some online progress plus eligible purchased items can be moved into the offline save if you do the transfer during the announced window. pvp is going away and unused paid syn coins will not be refunded, so this is not a perfect ending. but the game itself surviving the server shutdown is the part i wish was boring and normal instead of surprising.
