yearly sports games are comfort food

I know it is mostly the same game every year. That is why I buy it. New menus, updated squads, one mechanic everybody abuses for two months, then back to career mode on the couch. Familiar is the point. People buy the same snacks, rewatch the same sitcom and play de_dust2 forever, but sports game players are apparently criminals for wanting a fresh season. Could the games improve more? obviously. Still, buying one every September is cheaper than most of the dumb habits I could have.
