sony’s official plan is still to stop producing physical discs for new playstation games starting in january 2028. nis america boss kenzo saruhashi told kotaku that nis is talking with sony and thinks the company is hearing customer feedback, because physical limited editions are a real part of their business. he also said the outcome could still change. cool, but that is a developer saying discussions are happening, not sony announcing a reversal. if sony eventually makes exceptions for small limited runs, would that actually solve anything for you or is the whole point being able to buy normal discs?

yeah i don't want physical to survive as a premium merch tier. i want to walk into a store five years later and buy a used copy for 20 bucks.
