gta 6 tracks your sleep because apparently the criminal grind needs recovery days

rockstar put a health app in gta 6 that tracks whether jason and lucia are well rested. rob nelson says sleep affects regeneration of certain attributes. he also says the game tracks weight and muscle, with overeating changing your body and muscle fading if you stop maintaining it. i defended fuel because at least the car needs gas. now my bank robber needs a bedtime and a gym schedule. important bit: rockstar has not shown the exact thresholds or how punishing any of this is. this could be a light stat modifier, not vice city sleep simulator. still absolutely going to finish a six star chase and get a health app telling me i should have gone to bed.

underwater updates are always a warning sign and grounded 2 did it anyway

every game eventually looks at a perfectly good map and says what if movement was slower and the screen was blue. grounded 2 opening the pond is cool. i am not denying that. the whole tiny-person-in-a-backyard thing was basically asking for an underwater area from day one. but underwater gameplay has a very specific failure mode where exploring feels amazing for ten minutes and then you realize every trip needs extra gear, oxygen management and a route back to the surface. suddenly the cool new biome is errands with bubbles. if the new systems keep movement fast and the amphibious buggy is actually useful, great. if i spend half my session checking whether i packed the correct breathing item, the pond can keep its secrets.

mmo friction was mostly waiting with extra steps

Old MMO players call everything friction when they mean I had free time. Walking for fifteen minutes was not community. Waiting for a rare spawn was not immersion. Losing an evening because the group healer left was definitely not a meaningful social system. Yes, I talked to more strangers. Usually the conversation was invite, where are you, hurry up, and who pulled. We are remembering the one funny guild night and deleting twenty boring ones. I tried going back to that style of game. My bags were full, the quest NPC gave useless directions, and I had a video open on the second monitor within an hour. So much for mystery. Nostalgia is doing unpaid labor here. We miss being younger, having fewer games and seeing the same guild names every night. The slow travel gets credit because it was standing nearby. Modern convenience can make worlds feel disposable, sure. But old design also treated boredom like a subscription feature. Give me reasons to cooperate, not reasons to stare at a road. Those are not the same thing. Maybe the old world was special. The corpse run wasn't.
