grand theft auto finally made grand theft auto an actual mechanic

the series named after stealing cars spent decades making parked cars a one-button interaction. gta 6 is apparently done with that. rob nelson's preview explanation says parked vehicles now have different security. the WAINK phone app can scan whether one is locked, alarmed or tracked, plus its resale value and registration cost. older cars can need a slim jim. newer ones can need a key cloner. if somebody is already driving, classic yank-them-out carjacking still exists. the exact number of security tiers and the full tool list are not public, and this comes from the august rockstar north preview rather than a new controls manual. i love this as long as it stays a choice and not homework. let the expensive car be a little heist. please do not make me complete locksmith certification to steal a minivan.

20 minutes of professional prep followed by me clipping a palm tree before the wanted stars even appear. perfect.

cool system once. if story missions force the same key cloner minigame 14 times i'm smashing the window out of principle.
