miami is arguing about turning the actual airport into vice city airport

this is somehow real government discourse now. miami-dade officials have been discussing gta 6 launch partnership ideas with rockstar. reported concepts included vice city branding on county assets and even temporarily branding miami international airport as vice city airport. nothing has been formally approved and rockstar has not announced a deal. now the county sheriff and commissioner jc bermudez are publicly pushing back because they do not want public facilities promoting a game built around crime and violence. we spent 20 years joking that vice city is fake miami and now real miami is having an argument about becoming vice city for marketing.

using an actual public airport as a videogame ad is weird even if rockstar pays for it. private billboards, sure. county branding is a different thing.

yeah this is the part people skip. funny idea, but i understand why somebody responsible for the real place might hate it.
