rockstar confirmed forced character switching is back and unfortunately it makes sense

i spent months saying do not make gta 6 yank the controller between jason and lucia in the middle of missions and rockstar has now confirmed they absolutely will. rob nelson says missions use all three versions: some lock you to one character, some force a switch at a specific moment, and some let you swap freely. an early high-rise mission was apparently changed from free switching to jason-only because his military background made him the one who should lead it. the bank escape in the extended look also switches from jason shooting to lucia driving. outside story missions, reporting from the same interview says you can switch freely. we still do not know how often each mission type shows up. annoying update: this is a much better answer than random cinematic channel surfing. if the restriction exists because the scene belongs to one character, fine. if i get switched because rockstar wants me to watch a cool camera transition every six minutes, i am reopening the complaint.

good. a story mission is allowed to know who its protagonist is for ten minutes.

locking jason because the scene actually belongs to jason is different from switching because the helicopter needs a player. i can live with that.
