rockstar is going to tribunal over 31 fired gta 6 workers two months before launch

the final employment tribunal hearing over 31 uk rockstar workers starts september 10 in glasgow and is scheduled into mid october, basically right in the middle of gta 6 launch marketing. the union says the workers were targeted for union activity and blacklisted, and says they were fired without a normal disciplinary process or appeal. rockstar says the dismissals were for gross misconduct after confidential company information was shared, not for union membership, and says it will defend the case. none of that has been decided yet. this is the hearing where both stories get tested, not a verdict. kind of wild that one of the biggest game launches ever is arriving with a courtroom side quest running five weeks in the background.

take-two turned the gta 6 wanted level into subpoenas

take-two filed court requests for microsoft and discord records tied to the gta 6 leaks. they want account and connection data by september 4 while cyberleek is still posting like this is a normal content calendar. we spent years asking rockstar for a smarter wanted system and apparently they built it outside the game. six stars but the helicopters are attorneys.

open betas are unpaid qa and i am still downloading gears e-day

every publisher calls it a beta like we are getting some special privilege. brother i am finding your bugs for free. and yes i am downloading it anyway. obviously. for gears this actually makes sense because multiplayer is the kind of thing you cannot tune in a room full of devs. put thousands of idiots in there and within two hours somebody finds the weirdest route on the map and one loadout everyone hates. useful data. my only rule is do not sell me early beta access and then act shocked when the beta has problems. that is literally the point. if i crash twice i report it. if i crash six times i uninstall. scientific method.

we keep teaching games to launch broken

Every broken launch follows the same ritual in my friend group. We preorder because of one trailer. Someone buys deluxe for a gold weapon skin. We preload a file the size of a small moon. At launch the servers fall over. The party system forgets one person. Cutscenes stutter. A quest NPC vanishes and takes the main objective with him. We post angry messages while continuing to play for six hours. Then the first patch fixes crashes but breaks our save. The roadmap promises features we assumed were already in the game. Somebody says it will be amazing in a year. And honestly, it often is better in a year. That has become part of the excuse. We pay now because the imaginary future version sounds good. I am not making a moral speech here. I am the clown in paragraph two buying the gold weapon. Companies notice what we do, not what we type during a server queue. What we do is keep showing up on day one with snacks.
